Yahoo Inc. is now offering a new tool that allows users of its local search service to send restaurant or business information in the form of a text message from a computer to a mobile phone. The new feature can be used when clicking the “local” tab in the top of Yahoo Search. The new service is available across all the major wireless carriers at no charge for consumers (wireless carriers may charge fees for receiving text messages on a mobile handset). In October 2004 Google rolled out a test service that allows people to use mobile phones or handheld devices to use Google’s Web search via SMS.
