Ask Jeeves to expand Irish base

Ask Jeeves is likely to expand its Irish-based European headquarters despite a $1.96 billion (€1.5 billion) takeover bid which is currently underway for the internet search engine in the United States.The Ask Jeeves editorial team, which is responsible for its European search engine content, is based in central Dublin and it also hosts its European computer servers and internet operations here.
A spokeswoman for Ask Jeeves said it plans to develop services in the Irish market.
Irish board members include non-executive Alex McDonnell, non-executive Rachel Cunningham and director of Ask Jeeves in Europe, Scott Bauer.
Barry Diller’s IAC, which owns expedia.com and hotels.com, has offered to buy Ask Jeeves.
