An adult entertainment Web site has sued online retailer Amazon, accusing the company and its search engine subsidiary, A9.com, of copyright infringement for displaying thousands of the Web site’s explicit images in response to computer users’ searches.
In the lawsuit filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills-based Perfect 10 Inc. is seeking an injunction against the Seattle-based retailer and unspecified damages.Under U.S. copyright laws, plaintiffs can seek up to $150,000 for each instance their copyrights are infringed upon, said Russell Frackman, an attorney for Perfect 10. Amazon.com Inc. spokeswoman Patty Smith said Thursday she couldn’t comment on the lawsuit because the company hadn’t seen it yet. For more click here
